The table below has links to the latest information available on the website for the East Midlands and North Trent, by cancer site. Incidence and mortality data is presented at LA, PCT, GOR/SHA and Cancer Network level, with survival data at Cancer Network level. Comparative data for England are also presented.
The local incidence data were refreshed in October 2010 and are based on the latest figures available, up to and including 2009 diagnoses. The cohorts vary between sites and have been chosen to avoid disclosing any potentially identifiable results based on less than five cases in Local Authority areas.
Mortality data are presented up to 2010 (although due to small numbers, figures are only presented for persons at LA level for some sites). Survival estimates are up to 2009 (with follow-up to 2010).

Note: As these data are influenced by a variety of factors, we caution against over-interpretation, especially when comparing data between smaller geographical areas. Care should also be taken in interpreting trends over time or comparisons between areas in cancer incidence and survival because of potential changes/differences in the way cases are registered.
If you need further advice on interpretation of the data presented, please contact us
or by telephone (0114 2263560).
A series of PCT Cancer Factsheets covering the East Midlands and South Yorkshire is available. These provide a concise summary of the incidence, mortality and survival figures for cancers diagnosed in people living in each of the 13 PCTs in these areas, along with figures for each comparative Cancer Network.
Please click on the appropriate area link below to access the factsheets. For the larger PCTs, there is also another link to a separate list of Ward names.
Details of the methodology used to construct the figures in these factsheets are also available.
The UK Cancer e-Atlas, developed jointly by the National Cancer Intelligence Network (NCIN) and the United Kingdom Association of Cancer Registries (UKACR), provides instant access to basic cancer statistics. Incidence, mortality and survival data for the main types of cancer are presented by Cancer Network and NHS health boundary across the UK.

Cancer Research UK: CancerHelp UK
CancerHelp UK is an information service about cancer and cancer care for cancer patients and their families. It is provided by Cancer Research UK and includes a straightforward guide to understanding cancer statistics.
Cancer Research UK: CancerStats
The Cancer Research UK CancerStats section is designed for health professionals. It contains the latest cancer statistics and information on the causes, diagnosis, treatment, screening and molecular biology and genetics of cancer.
National Cancer Intelligence Network (NCIN)
The website presents NCIN publications and reports and has information about the Network's site-specific work programme. Freely available cancer information tools including the Cancer e-Atlas, Cancer Equalities Portal, Cancer Mortality Profiles and Cancer Prevalence e-atlas can also be accessed. NCIN have also produced a useful document presenting an overview of cancer statistics and information on the latest statistics publicly available and where to find them, aimed particularly at those not familiar with this information. The NCIN is now part of Public Health England.
Office for National Statistics (ONS)
National cancer statistics including cancer statistics registrations, series MB1 (numbers and rates of newly diagnosed cases of cancer by site, sex and age), incidence and mortality and survival.
