EMPHO Steering Board
At the East Midlands Public Health Observatory (EMPHO) Steering Board meeting held on Wednesday 9th March 2011, it was agreed that the EMPHO Steering Board should be dissolved.
This decision was informed by a letter from the Department of Health, in which Regional Directors of Public Health (RDsPH) and Public Health Observatory (PHO) Directors were notified that for 2011/12 PHOs will be funded directly by the Department of Health and the funds centrally administered. From 1st April 2011, PHOs will no longer be accountable to their RDPH for the use of this core funding.
The Steering Board also agreed that EMPHO’s accountability for the prioritisation and use of funding to undertake a programme of work during 2011/12 for the East Midlands public health community should transfer to the Public Health Intelligence workstream of the East Midlands Public Health and Local Government Transition Network. This programme of transition related work as agreed with the PHI workstream would be resourced from EMPHO’s non-core funding, which is already committed to cover existing staff and non-staff expenditure.
