Sexual Health
Health intelligence supporting work on sexual health is available from the South West Public Health Observatory. The South West Public Health Observatory has also developed the Sexual Health Balanced Scorecard. This provides a snapshot of sexual health for each Primary Care Trust in England using interactive charts and maps to make comparisons between areas. This toolkit is supported as best practice by the Department of Health and the aim is to provide a key source of sexual health information for public health, commissioning and performance management colleagues at a local, regional and national level.
Not in Front of the Children: Sexualisation, Impacts and Interventions. The concepts of sexualisation and in particular sexualised media are increasingly becoming of public concern in terms of the potential impact they may have on the sexual and social development of children and young people. This document examines the evidence surrounding sexualisation, discusses the potential implications of sexualised media and considers best practice for interventions to mediate the effects of outside influences.
The Teenage Pregnancy section of our website is a separate resource which provides a wide range of information on teenage pregnancy within the East Midlands and England.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) is responsible for collecting and reporting on sexually transmitted infection surveillance data. The HPA website provides regularly updated national and regional information.
