< Themes | National policy context >
Introduction
Our sexual health resources cover a broad range of topics including:
- Teenage Pregnancy (links to separate section)
- Abortion
- Contraception
- Sexually Transmitted Infections
- GUM Clinic Access and Services
Sexual ill health is a huge financial burden on the NHS. The cost to individuals can range from a brief period of discomfort to infertility or fatal disease. Certain groups of people experience poorer sexual health than others with risk factors including age, gender, ethnicity, deprivation and sexual orientation. For example, teenage conception rates are four times higher in the most deprived decile of local authorities in England than in the least deprived decile.
This resource signposts key national and regional documentation regarding sexual health policy and action plans, reports on the status of sexual health in the region, and provides links to evidence in support of sexual health policy and interventions. It also provides links to sexual health resources in other government office regions, and to on-line toolkits and data supporting sexual health work.
