Interactive mapping
EMPHO has produced interactive maps of data indicators related to the prevalence of obesity, using InstantAtlas from Geowise. Data are presented, where possible, for each Middle Super Output Area (MSOA) in the East Midlands. However, for some indicators data are only available at higher geographical levels but will have been assigned according to the area which contains the particular MSOA. Please check the metadata for each indicator to determine at which geographical level the original data have been analysed.
Data are provided on the following indicators:
- National Child Measurement Programme – Prevalence of overweight and obese children by school year
- Physically Active Children - Percentage of children attending state schools belonging to a School Sport Partnership who participate in at least 2 hours of high quality PE and school sport within and beyond the curriculum in a typical week of the academic year
- Healthy Eating Adults - Percentage of adults (16+) that are estimated to consume at least five portions of fruit and vegetables daily
- Obese Adults - Percentage of adults (16+) that are estimated to be obese
- Breastfeeding Initiation - Percentage of mothers who put their baby to the breast in the first 48 hours after delivery
- Breastfeeding Prevalence - Percentage of babies that are still being breastfed at their 6-8 week check-up, and includes infants which are being breastfed either totally or partially
- School Meal Uptake - Number or percentage of full-time pupils attending maintained schools who have a lunch at school that is provided either by the school or the local authority during the previous financial year
- Physical Activity Participation - Two separate indicators are provided:
A) KPI 1: number of adults (aged 16 and over) taking part on at least 3 days a week in moderate intensity sport and active recreation (at least 12 days in the last 4 weeks) for at least 30 minutes continuously in any one session.
B) NI8 of the National Indicator Set: number of adults (aged 16 and over) participating in at least 30 minutes of sport at moderate intensity at least three times a week.
Data will be updated on a regular basis and suitable additional indicators will be incorporated into the interactive maps in the future.
More details on each of the above indicators are provided in the interactive mapping tool, plus user guidance for this tool is available below. Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact
. We also welcome any feedback that you may have on using this interactive map.
