INFORMATION RESOURCES ON MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
< Themes | National policy context >
Introduction
This resource brings together a collection of sources of information on mental health and wellbeing. It is aimed primarily at public health staff and particularly mental health leads in Primary Care Trusts and Mental Health Local Implementation Teams in the East Midlands. We intend it to be useful to Local Delivery Plan and Local Area Agreement planning processes and to this end we look to provide references to sources of local data and provide methodologies and templates for local profiling work.
Information is included on national, regional and local policies, the prevalence of mental health problems and need for services, service provision and indicators/ outcome measurement. There are also specific sections on children/adolescents and the mental health of the workforce. Links and reports on each of these topics are provided.
Work on this resource is ongoing and the information will be updated as new material becomes available.

The Mental Health Observatory exists to collate and make available data about mental health care in England, collected routinely or through special surveys, by health and social services. It is based within the NHS North East Regional Public Health Observatory and funded partly by the Care Services Improvement Partnership (CSIP). It provides information and advice to commissioners, mental health care providers and national inspection and audit bodies. It also provides advice and expertise to other English Public Health Observatories in relation to mental health topics.
