This profile is an update to the profiles produced by EMPHO in 2009.
Where possible the information provided in the 2009 profile has been updated with the most recent available data. However some data sources and indicators are no longer available or no longer updated so have not been included.
East Midlands Dementia Profiles 2009
Dementia Profiles have been produced by EMPHO in partnership with the East Midlands Development Centre to support the implementation of the National Dementia Strategy at a regional and local level.
The Dementia Profiles include a general population profile, a health profile of the elderly population, the prevalence of Dementia, current service provision and information relating to performance and Quality Assessment.
Profile of Mental Health in the East Midlands 2006
Information from many of the data sources referred to in this website has been used to produce a profile of mental health in the East Midlands. The Profile includes data extracted from the following sources:
- Survey of Psychiatric Morbidity Among Adults Living in Private Households
- Ethnic Minority Psychiatric Illness Rates in the Community (EMPIRIC)
- Health Survey for England
- Mental Illness Needs Index (MINI2000)
- Incapacity Benefit Data
- Quality and Outcomes Framework
Where possible, analysis is presented for the East Midlands Region as a whole but also at both PCT and Local Authority/Unitary Authority level.
Local Case Study - Mental Health Needs in Derbyshire
This report provides analysis on the Southern Derbyshire population including:
- Estimated local incidence and prevalence of mental health problems in adults
- Variations in mental health needs across Southern Derbyshire by area
- Variations between different population groups: groups at high risk of mental health problems
- Estimating prevalence of mental health problems in older people
Local Case Study - Psychological therapies in Derbyshire
This brief paper was written by Vicki Price, Deputy Director of Public Health, Derbyshire Dales and South Derbyshire PCT, to inform the development of psychological therapy services in Derbyshire.
Equity profile of secondary care services for adult mental health in Nottingham City
The aim of this study by Julian Mallinson was to review the equity of secondary care services for adult mental health in Nottingham City (the area served by Nottingham City PCT).
The specific objectives were to predict the need for services using indicators of deprivation; measure the utilisation of services; investigate the nature and direction of the association between predicted need and utilisation across a range of diagnostic groups; consider the implications regarding equity and resourcing of services.
