Improving Health in the East Midlands
Improving Health in the East Midlands (2005) provides an overview of progress with the Regional Public Health Strategy, Investment for Health, and reflects on the implications in the context of local needs and the national public health agenda. The report informs the future work programme of its Boards, partners and the groups tasked with developing and implementing the Investment for Health Action Plan.
Improving Health in the East Midlands: Keeping Health in Mind (Report of the Director of Public Health to the East Midlands Regional Assembly 2006)
The Regional Director of Public Health’s 2006 annual report focuses on mental health and well-being issues, in particular:
- Child and Adolescent Mental Health
- Eating Disorders
- Mental Health at Work
- Older People
- Offenders
- Stigma and Discrimination
- Black and Minority Mental Health
It makes a number of recommendations:
- EMPHO should take the lead on the development of better information recording and collection
- EMRA should work with representative constituencies to raise the profile mental health as a priority
- EMRA and its partners should encourage the media in the region to adopt a positive approach to mental health issues
- Children and young peoples’ partnerships should ensure coordinated action across specialist and universal services
- Local authorities and partners should embed the principles of promoting mental health and well-being in LAAs
- Public sector employees should participate actively in the pathways to work programmes
