Improving Health in the East Midlands:
Keeping health in mind gives a progress report of the implementation of
Investment for Health (2003). Four priorities for action were identified –
tobacco, obesity, sexual health and alcohol. This yearly report provides an
update on activities in all these areas. Pages 24-26 specifically set out
actions and recommendations relating to alcohol.
East Midlands Alcohol Harm Reduction Steering Board
The East Midlands Alcohol Harm Reduction Steering Board is a
regional multi-agency strategic group with responsibility for overseeing the
production and implementation of the regional response to the Alcohol Harm
Reduction Strategy and ensuring it also integrates with Investment for Health,
and the Regional Reducing Re-offending Action Plan (Changing Ways). The group
is jointly chaired by the Department of Health and the Home Office and has high
level regional representation from the Department for Education and Skills,
Youth Justice Board, Department for Community and Local Government, NOMS, the
Strategic Health Authority, the National Treatment Agency and voluntary sector
representation through Nottingham APAS.
